Eat, Drink And Play In 'San Fran'
There’s a lot to love about San Francisco, it hard to know where to start. If panoramic parks, handmade pasta, stiff drinks and packed dance floors are your jam, San Fran is for you. We caught up with bonafide San Francisco veteran, associate editor of San Francisco magazine, Jenna Scatena, for her inside scoop on what’s to love most about the city.
Food
Cotogna – Next to the upscale Quince, you’ll find the newer, more casual Cotogna, serving the best handmade pasta with some of the freshest local ingredients in town.
After Dark
Monarch – San Francisco isn’t known for a large club scene, but with stiff drinks and a packed dance floor (and even sexy acrobats some nights), Monarch is always going off.
Play
Dolores Park – The grassy slope has panoramic views of the skyline and is blanketed with locals picnicking, drinking beer and playing music.
Day Trip
Oakland Art Murmur – An easy 10-minute BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) ride from San Francisco land and you’re a few short blocks from Oakland’s burgeoning art epicentre. Get off at 19th Street station and walk uptown, where you’ll find a row of galleries, studios and murals.
Secret Tip
Insider info – Wear layers. It might be warm and sunny in the morning, but you never know when ‘Karl the Fog’ will creep in.
