One of Hong Kong’s oldest tourist attractions is its beloved Ocean Park, situated on the southern side of the city. Clinging to a cliff face which boasts sweeping views of the South China Sea and parted in the middle by an iconic mountain range, this sprawling aquatic-themed amusement park opened in 1977 and has since collected a raft of awards as one of Asia’s premier tourist attractions.

Popular exhibits include a Chinese Sturgeon Aquarium, a collection of playful South Pole penguins, an Amazing Asian Animals attraction boasting both giant and red pandas from mainland China and a popular rainforest landscape inhabited by a number of monkeys, marmosets and exotic tropical birds.
While Ocean Park is inescapably popular for its award-winning animal enclosures and vast range of amusement rides, its stunning South China Sea backdrop also helps attract plenty of visitors. The park’s 1.5-kilometre long cable car ride provides sweeping ocean views, while a unique funicular railway recreates the sensation of travelling underwater.
