Port Douglas – The one-hour coastal drive from Cairns to Port Douglas along the Captain Cook Highway has to be one of the most fantastic scenic drives in Australia, with plenty of places to stop and take in the views.

Insider info – Crystal Cascades is a secluded freshwater swimming hole that only locals know about. The series of small waterfalls, hidden in Redlynch, flows into large pools surrounded by oversized boulders.
