Established on the rural property, ‘Llanherne’, Hobart Airport opened in 1956 and was the fifth busiest airport in Australia by the following year. The airport had a separate domestic and international terminal, which were connected in 2007, and operates shared check-in and departure areas for all airlines. After several redevelopments and expansions to accommodate the growing number of travellers, the private airport now welcomes over two million passengers annually.
