Economy
Take to the skies and relax with an Economy class flight on Qantas Domestic. Cabin features include standard slimline seats with an adjustable headrest and soft recline to ensure in-flight comfort, while blankets and pillows are available on request. A selection of warm meals, snacks and drinks are served according to the time of day, while complimentary beer and wine is offered on selected routes.
Business Class
Upgrading to Business Class is one way to ensure a smooth flight, with the advantages including a streamlined priority check-in experience. Once you board your flight, Boeing Sky Interior B737-800 and refurbished B767 aircraft boast ergonomically-designed leather seats which feature wide seat-backs, extendable leg rests and a generous recline. Lumbar support is offered on selected seats, while the SkyBed in Business feature available on selected A330 aircraft ensures passengers arrive refreshed and relaxed.
On-board dining options have been carefully created by chef Neil Perry, whose seasonal menus are tailored according to the time of day they’re being served, while an award-winning wine list compliments the choice of food on offer.
Entertainment Options
Entertainment options in Economy and Business Class differ between aircraft, with personal 10.6-inch digital screens offered on A330-200s and selected B737-800 planes. More than 250 channels are provided, featuring latest-release movies and popular TV shows, dedicated radio stations and destination guides, as well as several other features designed to keep passengers entertained. Apple iPads are distributed on refurbished B767 aircraft to further enhance the in-flight experience, with more than 200 hours of on-demand entertainment offered via Q Streaming, while in-seat PC power and USB ports are available on selected aircraft.
Qantas Baggage Allowance
Carry-On
All guests travelling on Qantas Domestic flights are permitted to take up to 7kg of carry-on baggage on board, which can either consist of a small bag and/or briefcase, or one small bag plus a suit or non-rigid garment bag. In addition, passengers may also carry on board one small personal item such as a handbag, laptop computer, overcoat and small camera.
Toiletries 100mls or less are able to be taken as carry on. Travel-sized toiletries are usually available at pharmacies and the airport newsagents.
Checked
Qantas baggage allowances differ according to cabin class, Frequent Flyer status and Qantas Club membership. Economy passengers are permitted one piece of checked baggage, weighing up to 23 kilograms in total. Business Class passengers, including Qantas Club members, are permitted one piece of checked baggage weighing up to 32kg in total. Silver and Gold Frequent Flyers and Platinum Frequent Flyers are allowed two pieces of checked baggage weighing up to 32kg each. No single item of baggage may exceed 32kg in total.
Make sure to take anything valuable in your carry-on, especially important documents and medications.
Bulky Items
Bulky items such as sporting equipment can be included as part of a checked baggage allowance, with each item counted as one piece of checked baggage. Items such as bikes, golf clubs, surfboards, skis or snowboards must not exceed the maximum size and weight limits and must be securely packed. Bicycles must be packed in a protective bike box, sold at most Australian Qantas Terminals and retail bicycle outlets. Passengers may provide their own bike box, however it must not exceed the specified weight and size dimensions.
Make sure to check the dimensions and weight of bulky items so you don't get caught out paying excess baggage fees
Infant Baggage
Infants travelling on full-fare tickets are entitled to the same checked baggage allowance as other full-fare paying passengers. Adult passengers accompanying infants, including those carrying infants on their lap, are entitled to check-in one collapsible stroller or bassinet to be stowed in the aircraft’s hold. In-flight infant amenities are available on selected Qantas flights.
Infant bassinets are available on Qantas but are limited so make sure to request at your time of booking.
Restricted or Dangerous Goods
Dangerous items are restricted for carriage on aircraft, with such items as those which may endanger the safety of the aircraft or those on board either regulated or restricted from passage. Dangerous goods include petrol, certain batteries, incendiaries such as flares and fireworks, bleaching powders, poisons such as weed killers and oxidising materials.
Restrictions exist on the types of goods permitted into the aircraft cabin, including aerosols, toiletries and alcohol. Exemptions apply to medicines and baby products. For more information on carry-on baggage restrictions, refer to the Australian Government Liquids, Aerosols and Gel Guide.
If in doubt about restricted items, check with Qantas Domestic before you leave home so your goods are not confiscated.
Web, Mobile or Kiosk
Check-in on Qantas Domestic flights occurs one of three ways.
Web Check-in is available from 24 hours up to one hour prior to departure and allows you to print your ticket at home. However, you must drop off any checked baggage at the counter within the allotted timeframe.
Mobile Check-in is available on internet-capable mobile phones from 24 hours up 45 minutes prior to your flight’s departure. You can scan your mobile boarding pass directly at the gate, although passengers with checked baggage must drop their luggage at the bag drop-off at least 30 minutes before departure.
Kiosk Check-in at the airport features Faster, Smarter Check-in technology and allows passengers to check in and collect boarding passes and printed bag tags, where applicable.
