This park is an urban retreat like no other and anyone that enjoys unique nature settings and century’s old history is sure to love Osaka Castle Park. An oasis in the middle of bustling Osaka, the park is a beautiful mix of quiet pathways situated along landscaped gardens and historic Japanese gates, shrines and other structures. The park is most renowned however for the famous Osaka Castle, an historic icon and one of the most stunning pieces of Japanese architecture to be found anywhere.
Contained within the boundaries of a wide moat and century’s old stone walls, the park covers multiple levels with the highest level featuring the impressive Osaka Castle landmark. Opened in 1931 at around the same time the rebuilding of the castle took place, the park is a popular place for quiet strolls and picnics and offers excellent views of the city. A great site for photography the park offers beautiful backdrops with lots of Japanese appeal.
The park is beautiful anytime of year but springtime and autumn offer especially lovely settings. With spring comes cherry blossoms and the gorgeous colours create a special air of vibrancy. Autumn too is full of colour as the leaves change to bright reds and oranges. The park also contains Osaka Castle Hall, a venue for sporting events, outdoor concerts and other events.
The park is served by multiple modes of public transportation. The JR Osaka Loop Line serves the Morinomiya Station at the southeast corner of the park. The Chuo subway line and the Nagahori Tsurumi-ryokuchi Line also serve this station.
