Situated within the Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa National Park, Uluṟu / Ayers Rock is a monolith that extends around 5 kilometres below the earth and measures 3.6 kilometres by 2.4 kilometres on the surface. The rock is best experienced at different times of the day as the colours changes - sunset is particularly dramatic. When visiting Uluṟu / Ayers Rock it's worth walking around the circumference.
While in the region, also explore the Olgas, which are now called Kata Tjuṯa. This must see attraction is a collection of 36 rock domes that are located 36 kilometres to the west of Uluṟu / Ayers Rock. Yulara is the service town for both attractions and offers a range of accommodation options.
