Newark is a major transportation hub located just minutes away from New York City. While not nearly as large as its New York neighbour, Newark is the largest city of the state of New Jersey where much of the state’s business and education centres are located. Once a thriving industrial centre, Newark today has a diverse economy from light manufacturing to insurance, law and healthcare. Newark is also home to many companies who have their corporate headquarters in the city.
As one of the east coast’s largest cities, Newark is blessed with many thriving institutions such as the renowned Newark Museum and The New Jersey Performing Arts Centre which is home to the state’s well established symphony orchestra and the State Opera. In addition to Newark’s fine museums, another way to see the city’s rich history is by strolling through its neighbourhoods where excellent examples of Beaux-Arts and Art Deco styles of architecture can be enjoyed.
