'Bundy' is near the launch point for snorkelling and diving on the southern Great Barrier Reef too. If you want natural attractions closer, Mon Repos Beach hosts the largest loggerhead turtle hatching ground in the South Pacific. Thousands of tiny turtles head to the sea from early January to late March.
This is also the birthplace of Bert Hinkler, who in 1928, was the first person to fly solo from England to Australia. The Hinkler House Memorial Museum is in the botanical gardens.
