One of the best things about working for Flight Centre is just how giving the staff and company is. Every year we support a number of charities that are close to our hearts. And since 2009 we've been involved with the South African Guide Dogs Association to help them fund the excellent work they do.
Guide Dogs are the only dogs allowed into restaurants and onto planes as passengers. As such they enable a visually impaired person to lead as normal a life as possible.

A trained guide dog becomes the ‘eyes’ for their owners, giving them a new lease on life and enormous independence, and we at Flight Centre and SAGA encourage all travellers to help make this happen.
During our 2011 fundraiser the staff at Flight Centre raised R11 510 for SAGA towards the excellent work they do. Last week Flight Centre's Marketing Manager, Deanne Grove along with Product Co-ordinator, Shirley Watson and myself (Amanda Hardy) went to visit the Gladys Evans Training Centre to hand over a cheque to Malcolm Driver.
How can you get involved?
There are a number of ways to ensure that SAGA can train puppies to fulfil their purpose of being guide dogs for the blind or physically impaired, a visit to their website will help you make your personal choice
Your donation will help SA Guide Dogs train a service or social dog for the physically disabled. It costs approximately R10 000 to train and ready a dog for service but the difference it will make to a disabled person is life changing.
SA Guide Dogs is reliant on the support of individuals, companies and service groups to donate funds in order for the association to continue their service offering. They have been serving South Africa for over 53 years.

There's not many things in this world more beautiful than a new-borne. And they come in all shapes and sizes. From the human variety right through to man's best friend. Puppies may start off small and helpless, but many are destined for greatness. These gorgeous little guys and girls are destined to be puppies with purpose.
