Slimline economy seats with a 31-32 inch seat pitch ensure a comfortable ride and adequate personal space with Hong Kong Airlines. Those wishing to stretch out a bit in Economy can opt for an extra legroom upgrade, with a number of extra spacious seats available to prebook in the Economy cabin.

Economy passengers can enjoy the convenience of online check-in with advance seat selection when flying from eligible airports. Onboard the flight, experience a complimentary meal service of Asian and Western dishes with alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

Business Class

A generous 50-inch seat pitch and angled flat bed seats means upmost comfort and personal space for Hong Kong Airline’s Business Class passengers.  The superior treatment starts before you board, with priority ground services and VIP airport lounge access to ease you into your journey comfortably.

Onboard the flight, experience fine dining with a range of western and Chinese inspired dishes designed by top chefs, with the added flexibility of choosing own meal times. When it’s time to kick back and relax, a 10.5-15.5 inch personal entertainment screen is available, with an extensive in-flight entertainment programme of over 100 western and Asian movies and TV shows.

Carry-On

Economy Class passengers may take one piece of cabin baggage on the flight, with a maximum weight of 7kg. For Business Class passengers, this allowance increases to two pieces of seven kilograms each.

The dimensions of cabin baggage must not exceed 56cm x 30cm x 23cm (22” x 14” x 9”). Personal allowance items may also be taken on the plane, including a laptop, small handbag, camera bag, coat and reading material.

Checked

Whether you’re flying in Economy or Business Class, there are no restrictions on the number of bags you can check in when flying with Hong Kong Airlines. The free baggage allowance is measured on total weight, with Economy passengers given up to 20 kilograms of weight allowance, and Business Class passengers entitled to total of 30 kilograms.

No one piece of baggage may weigh over 32 kilograms. Excess baggage charges from US$10 per kilogram apply to luggage that exceeds the designated weight for each travel class.

Bulky Items

Sporting equipment may be checked in, but it will be counted towards the free baggage allowance, with regular excess baggage fees applicable if the sporting equipment exceeds that amount.

Musical instruments can travel as checked baggage or hand luggage provided they are stored in a hard case. Large pieces travelling onboard can occupy a seat, which must be booked directly through the airline’s customer service department.

Infant Baggage

A passenger under two years old, travelling on a parents lap, may check in luggage up to 10 kilograms in weight, whether they are travelling in Business or Economy Class.

Prohibited & Restricted Baggage

Hand Luggage

For safety and security reasons, the following items and materials are prohibited from travelling in cabin baggage on Hong Kong Airlines flights: Liquids and aerosols more than 100ml, objects with sharp or pointy edges, workers tools, blunt instruments, explosives, stunning devices, and all firearms. Liquids taken onboard the flight must be stored in containers of under 100ml in capacity, and transported in a zip lock clear plastic bag.

Checked Baggage

Dangerous and prohibited items that are banned from check-in luggage includes: Explosives and fire hazards (such as fireworks and flares), gases, flammable liquids, flammable solids, oxidising substances, toxic and infectious substances, radioactive material, corrosives, and other materials including asbestos and dry ice.

Online Check-In

Enjoy the freedom of checking-in online if you are flying from one of Hong Kong Airlines eligible airports. Online check-in can be done from the comfort of your home or hotel up to 36 hours prior to departure, closing 2 hours before the flight leaves. Advance seat selection is available at this time, and a self-printed boarding pass can be used to bypass lengthy queues at the airport. Minors and those requiring additional assistance must visit the airport check in desk to check in.

Airport Check-In

If you’re checking in for your Hong Kong Airlines flight at the airport, the counters open two and a half hours prior to scheduled departure, closing 40 minutes prior to flights departure.

Getting there

  • Hong Kong Airlines recommends international passengers arrive at the airport 3 hours prior to flight departure to ensure adequate time to process luggage and check-in.

At the airport

  • Airport check-in opens two and a half hours before flight departure
  • If you’ve already checked in online, head to the bag drop counter
  • Proceed through security and immigration
  • Find your flight boarding gate number and time
  • Proceed to boarding gate at least 30 minutes prior to departure

Relax in style at Hong Kong Airline’s own executive airport lounge at Hong Kong International Airport. The recently refurbished Club Bauhinia is located near Gate 23 of Terminal One, offering an exclusive environment for premium Hong Kong Airlines passengers to unwind before their flight.

Access to the lounge is available for Business Class passengers, and eligible members of the Fortune Wings loyalty program. The lounge accommodates up to 120 passengers, with facilities such as hot and cold buffet refreshments including local specialities of Dim Sum and noodles. The lounge also features WiFi access, newspapers and magazines and iMac computers.

Further afield, Hong Kong Airlines premium passengers may also access airport and partner airline lounge facilities in a number of destination airports throughout Asia and beyond.

Hong Kong Airlines VIP Lounge

Hong Kong Airline’s frequent flyer programme, Fortune Wings, entitles members to earn miles each time they fly with the airline and partner airlines, by using dedicated credit cards, or shopping with affiliate businesses. Miles accrued can be redeemed for upgrades and award flights with the airline or partner airlines. Members who clock up frequent mileage may be entitled to progress up the Fortune Wings programmes tier levels, to access additional benefits.

Tier Levels

Base Card

The entry-level tier level of the Fortune Wings programme is available for any passengers flying with Hong Kong Airlines. Once membership at this level has been established, Base Card holders can start earning miles each time they fly, allowing them to progress further towards the elite tier memberships.

Silver Card

The first elite tier of the Fortune Wings loyalty programme, Silver Card membership is earned once a passenger has clocked up 30,000 miles or 20 flight sectors within a 12-month period. Member benefits of this status level include 25% bonus mileage, an upgrade discount voucher, Business Class check-in and priority boarding and airport lounge access.

Gold Card

Elevation to Gold Card status membership is earned when 50,000 miles or 40 sectors are clocked up within a 12-month period. Gold Card Fortune Wings members are entitled to 50% bonus mileage, a flight upgrade discount voucher, Business Class check-in and priority boarding with a companion, an extra 20 kilograms of luggage allowance and Airport Lounge access with a companion.
