Economy
Air India Economy Class offers a choice of Indian and Western cuisine with both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. All beverages including wine and spirits are complimentary. Domestic and regional economy class seats on narrow body aircraft have a seat pitch of 31 or 32 inches, while international economy class ranges from 31-34 inches depending on aircraft type and seat location in the cabin. Modern slim-line seats include adjustable head rests.
Business Class
Known as Executive Class, this dedicated business class product is offered on all wide body aircraft, including the 747, 777 and 787 Dreamliner. Executive Class perks include priority check-in and lounge facilities. The hallmark feature of this spacious cabin is the generous personal space, from increased leg room to greater recline. A gourmet meal service with premier wines and spirits is also offered. Guests receive an amenity kit upon boarding and can enjoy a wide selection of on-demand entertainment from the personal seat back video screens.
First Class
The Air India First Class cabin features a two-by-two seating arrangement where guests can enjoy either a window or aisle seat. The exclusive cabin contains extra wide seats that turn into a fully lie-flat bed. Attentive service, along with a full range of in-flight entertainment options on personal wide-screen video monitors are two First Class highlights. A selection of restaurant style menu options are available from the First Class menu and are complimented with the best wines, spirits and liqueurs.
Carry-on Baggage
Passengers are permitted one carry-on item per person. This piece must not weigh more than 8kg and cannot exceed the linear dimensions of 115cm. Any bag not meeting this criteria will be handled as checked luggage. In addition to the one carry-on item, passengers are permitted a small hand bag, jacket, camera bag or other small personal effect.
Checked Baggage
Checked baggage allowances depend on point of origin, routing, and class flown. Standard baggage limitations which are always in effect include a maximum bag weight of 32kg and maximum linear dimension size of 204cm. Any item exceeding these measurements will not be accepted. Check with your Flight Centre consultant for specific baggage allowance information for your particular flight and fare type.
Size limitations for carry-on bags are 55cm long x 40cm wide x 20cm high. Any item that exceeds these measurements must be checked in.
Sporting Equipment
Some sporting equipment may be included as part of a passengers free allowance. This depends on the type and the size of the equipment. Larger and heavier items may incur additional fees. Contact your Flight Centre consultant for specific details regarding sporting equipment.
Musical Instruments
Musical instruments are not permitted as carry-on luggage. All musical instruments must be packaged in a hard-sided carry case and checked in. Instruments may be included as part of a guest’s free baggage allowance.
Restricted or Dangerous Goods
Dangerous material such as explosives, fireworks, flammable liquids and gasses, toxins, corrosives or infectious materials are never allowed on the aircraft. Ask your Flight Centre consultant for a complete list of restricted items. All dangerous goods must be declared at time of check-in. Items such as electric wheelchair batteries or personal oxygen bottles may be permitted, however strict guidelines determine their packaging and carriage. Ask your Flight Centre consultant for specific information on the carriage of dangerous goods.
If in doubt, leave it out. Even if you accidentally take a dangerous good on board an aircraft you can be fined and penalised.
Check-in
Passengers may check in at the airport ticket counter on the day of departure. Check-in for international flights closes 60 minutes prior to departure. Web check-in is also available from 48 hours to 2 hours before a flight’s departure time. For web check-in, the guest must visit the Air India website and navigate to the Manage Your Trip tab to proceed. Printable boarding passes are issued and must be presented at the airport. If travelling with luggage, proceed first to the bag-drop off counter.

Lounges
Air India maintains lounges in its hub airports and are open to Air India First Class, Executive Class and top tier Flying Returns members. For departures from Melbourne and Sydney, Air India Executive Class passengers may use the Qantas Business Class Lounge. Through its alliance with other global carriers, Air India premium flyers have access to hundreds of lounges across the globe.
Flying Returns
Mileage points are earned with the Air India Flying Returns program on eligible fare classes on Air India and alliance member operated flights. Rewards include priority airport service, upgrades and award travel both on Air India and on partner airlines.
Top Flying Returns tiers include the Silver Edge Club, Golden Edge Club and the Maharajah Club. Each level provides an additional baggage allowance, bonus miles and a range of special services.
